CHARACTER
NAME: Alisaie Leveilleur
CANON: Final Fantasy XIV
CANON POINT: At the end of patch 5.1
AGE: 17
BACKGROUND: https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Alisaie_Leveilleur
https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Alphinaud_Leveilleur#Final_Fantasy_XIV:_Shadowbringers Alisaie's Shadowbringers entry hasn't been updated, for some reason, but since she spends most of her time in the company of her brother Alphinaud, his entry covers most of hers.

The big difference is that she chose to spend her time initially in Amh Areng, at the Inn at Journey's Head, guarding the location from attacks by Sin Eaters. The Inn is a place that those afflicted by the light can spend their last days, both being comforted and keeping them away from large cities, ultimately being poisoned before they become a Sin Eater.

However, during one such attack one of Alisaie's friends, a nurse named Tesleen, is turned into a Sin Eater, causing her no small amount of grief. In Lakeland, that same Sin Eater shows up to defend the lightwarden, and bringing Alisaie along allows her to apologize for failing her friend.

PERSONALITY: Alisaie is a picture in contrasts against her brother. Where Alphinaud is diplomatic, she is more direct and blunt. She excels in the physical arts such as fencing and swimming, whereas Alphinaud is the more academic and magically-inclined of the two.

Alisaie holds little love for the trappings and mechanisms of politics. She chooses to exempt herself from the affairs of Eorzea's city-states and grand companies, spending her time elsewhere after arguing with her brother whether they should get involved. However, she doesn't out and out abandon him. She keeps tabs on what he is up to, including sending a chocobo to him and the Warrior when they are betrayed by someone they thought was a close friend, showing that while the siblings may bicker over differences, Alsiaie still truly cares about her brother and his friends.

She prefers direct action to subterfuge; though she sneaks to try and find information on the Warriors of Darkness once she becomes aware of them, she proves her best when confronting them directly, gathering aether in a massive attack upon them. She's also able to recognize Urianger as one of the Warriors, and while she expresses dislike of him having to lie to them, she is also the first to forgive him. It takes her a bit to warm up to people, but once she has? She considers them friends and family and will do her best to keep them safe.

Her disgust for politics and lies carries over to many situations that the Warrior of Light encounters, though she at least has an understanding of why they come about. When they travel to Doma to understand the Garlean occupation and to find a way to help liberate Ala Mhigo, Alisaie is the more moderate contrast to Lyse. While she also wishes to rush in and save people, she holds Lyse back and explains why they can't do so, and why it would cause more damage in the long run. She's able to assess the ramifications of such decisions quickly - it is what makes her a good combatant, and good at tactics, though she admittedly is far outshined by her brother in that particular respect.

Alisaie would like to pretend that she is always calm and controlled, but in truth she is less so than her brother. She is able to keep a cool head in combat situations, but she seems to be the source of the sibling's many arguments. On top of that, she very much worries over Alphinaud when he disappears during a political mission to Garlemald, and is greatly distressed when the main members of the Scions begin falling unconscious mysteriously, begging the Warrior not to leave her alone as the last woman standing.

She also worries over a Kobold child who may or may not have been "tempered" (that is, brainwashed) by a Primal. Though she's combat inclined, she's not one who enjoys wars or battle, and she spends time taking care of the child, hoping against hope that the Kobold will give them a sign he is okay. Thankfully, he ends up thanking her for the time she spent with him, giving them hope that it is simply trauma, not tempering, that keeps the child silent. During this time she reflects on the Scion's mantra - for those we've lost, and for those we can yet save. She wants a way to stop the summoning of primals and the terror that causes their summoning. She also dislikes the Garleans greatly for the occupation and wars they force upon others. Seeing the despondence that is caused resonates with her strongly.

Alisaie also greatly respects the Warrior of Light - it is mentioned after arriving in Norvrandt that she speaks enthusiastically of them, and seeks to model herself after their bravery, essentially asking herself what the Warrior would do in many situations. (For the purposes of writing, Alisaie's Warrior of Light is an Au Ra named Sayuri, and she does indeed have a bit of a hero crush on her). She's also close to Lyse, a former Scion and the leader of the Ala Mhigan resistance. She respects Lyse's determination and sees a lot of herself in the young woman.

As mentioned, Alisaie cares greatly for her brother. Like any pair of siblings, though, they pretend otherwise. She gets frustrated when he says a bossy pixie reminds him of her as a child, and embarrassed when he laughs at a failed attempt at clay moulding. (Alphinaud got all of the art skill in the family). She always seeks to remind him that she's the one who's both better at fighting and better at swimming, a sore spot for Alphinaud since it made his travels across Kugane harder.

POWERS/ABILITIES: Alisaie's comment that she excelled at fencing holds true; she summons a rapier made of aether to fight the first time she is seen in combat, and is eventually provided a proper rapier attuned to her and a red mage crystal. From then on, she is trained in the Red Mage discipline (a character who has finished Stormblood's main campaign picking up the Red Mage class will have the disciple teacher comment that Alisaie had received basic training from them) and uses abilities associated with that.

Red Mages were created in the wake of destruction wrought by Black and White Mages in FFXIV. Since those disciplines draw on the ambient aether around them, the Red Mages use dualcasting as part of their abilities and only draw from their own innate reserves. They can cast black and white magic, neither of which are as strong as their base classes, building up black and white "aether" in their bodies, and then releasing it to cast stronger spells or enhance attacks.

Alisaie, in combat, uses these spells as well, though she tends to favor the swordplay of the class over their casting abilities, only using them if the situation is dire enough to call for it, such as healing or needing to gather aether for an attack. She prefers to leave the casting to the casters.

Aside from that, Alisaie has quite the skill in the negotiating arena (though it pales compared to Alphinaud), but she expresses her dislike for it and that she prefers not to do such things. Still, the girl can strike quite the deal with a set of pirates if need be, and served as a capable tactician in her brother's absence.

She has also received a blessing from the Kojin of the Ruby Sea that allows her to breathe and speak underwater.

INVENTORY: Alisaie's rapier, a special rapier made for her by Urianger
Adelphoi, a special arcanist grimoire given to her by her grandfather (and part of a combining set with her brother)

MOONBLESSING: Sanguis
